Red Scarf Girl Plot

So far in this book, the plot goes like this. The exposition of this book starts out with Ji-Li as a student who is loved, respected, and admired by her fellow classmates, friends, teachers, and family members. As the Cultural Revolution began, Ji-Li finds out that her grandfather was a "landlord" making her class status in the"black" category. Since she is considered a "black," her family is always humiliated and her dreams and hopes get crushed. Well, I guess the start if the Cultural Revolution is the Rising Action of the book. The Climax of the book I guess is when her family is like really falling apart and she is so tired of being treated so badly, etc. Well, the falling action of this book is when all the troubles are coming to an end and the Cultural Revolution is also coming to an end. And the Resolution is when she moves to the states. I think that's about it. Well, I'm really glad that the Cultural Revolution is over now. I felt so bad for all the people who had to go through it.

Red Scarf Girl~Setting

The setting of this book takes place in Shanghai, China in a "nice" house of Ji-Li and her family. She was basically under the catergory of "rich" in that period of time. Ji-Li and her family had many things in their house that they valued, but as soon as the Cultural Revolution starts, they lost everything. Ji-Li was just 12 in that year of 1966 and was going through hard times because of her family background during the "CR." When the "CR" began, a new rule was set up for the "four-olds" and were replaced by the "four-news." Because of this, all of Ji-Li's dreams and hopes were crushed and she began to feel lost and ashamed.

Even though Ji-Li Jiang is a good student, due to the cultural revolution, her dreams have been crushed because of her family background and now her life is changed. Up to now, she is still trying to get used to the new ways and takes responsibilities in her family.

trustworthiness

There was this one time when my friend told me who she liked. It was really tempting for me because the guy she liked was in a bunch of my classes. He was like right there in front of me and a lot of people were always asking who she liked. But I didn't tell a single soul because she was my best friend and I didn't want to hurt her and ruin our friendship. I stayed quiet until she finally asked him out and I was so glad that I didn't tell anyone. This shows that people can trust me and that I can keep secrets.

My Courageous Moment

One of my courageous moments were when my cousins, siblings, and I were at my grandpa's hotel swimming. At that time I was about 9 years old and I wasn't that good at swimming. Neither were any of my siblings or cousins. We were playing a game when one of my siblings were crying out for help. She was at a deep part of the pool and was starting to drown. I panicked and didn't know what to do. In my head, I was thinking to myself that I would drown if I went to help. But then again, she was my sibling and everyone else were panicking, looking for someone. Since no one was there, I swam as best as I could to my sister and reached for her. When she grabbed me, I could feel myself sinking slowly, but I kept on swimming and didn't give up. Finally, I reached a shallow part of the pool and let her down. By the time we were there, my aunt, grandpa, and my uncle had come and I was exhausted from paddling so much. My sister thanked me and everyone told me how proud they were. I was so proud of myself for not giving up and now, I always save my siblings from drowning.
